I went to my very first Hamilton and District Aquarium Society (HDAS) club meeting yesterday, and they had some fish and tanks up for auction, I got 2 pairs of endlers for $8, is that good? How expensive how endlers usually?

quite higher than the price 2 pairs would normally go for at a club. They usually sell for £4.00 for a male in shops and £4.50 in shops. So you have saved instead of buying from a shop :good:

Sweet! that's good! :)
Are they hard to take care of? I've read info and stuff about them, but I've never actually taken care of "rarer livebearers"
do these endlers breed as easily as my other livebearers?

Endlers are sort of between rare and common - getting more common now.

They're easy to care for, similar to guppies. With regards to breeding they'll give birth every 24-28 days, broods being between 10 and 30.

My idea was to get a male and a female and breed them, the female gave birth to 10, then 23, then the male died. Guess what? Six (I saved the first 10) survived, all female!

Do they have the babies all at once? cuz I heard some kind of fish, (can't remember what kind) has like 3-5 a day, (for an example),

Endlers breed about the same as guppies but on a shorter timetable. It could take both pairs of endlers you have as much as 6 months to pack a 55 gallon tank with adults and fry. A gestation of about 23 days at 77F means lots of fry in a big hurry. The fact that they are not big fry eaters means a high survival rate and the fact that they can breed at about 2 months old means that the 2 pair will not be the only fish trying to get that postulated 55 filled in the 6 months. I bought 4 pairs of wild type endlers and in less than a year I had sold and given away about 50, had a 20H, a 29 and a 45 all filled to overflowing. Once the tanks are filled with a mix of adults and fry, the production line seems to slow down but if you sell off most of the adults it will become even fuller in the next 2 or 3 months than before you sold them.

My 45 at feeding time.

Yes, they are completely ignoring the fry swimming among them.

Oh ok! Thanks! When mine has babies, when their old enough, I'm going to sell them, mine has a "gravid spot" I know that's not the best indication on livebearers but do they get gravid spots? My one female has one and the other doesn't, (the female that's a big fatter has the spot)

They do get a gravid spot but I can't keep track of all my endlers so I don't know if it means anything. You can expect to see fry by the end of September from one or both females.
