Amazing Looking O's.
They have such personalites and really can give you the dirtiest of looks.

oscars are very messy eaters,,,,they love feeder shrimp that you can buy from local fish shops.....
You can survive<they can survive on a very good qaulity cichlid food,,,,i feed my hilraki cichlid food :good:

you will come to love them and will find yourself oneday upgrading suddenly :shifty:

Enjoy them just make sure filterations very good<keep on top of waterchanges so as not to get HITH
Prawns as a food should help bring out the red pigmentaion within there colour :good:

is that fresh or frozen?? and how often would i feed it?

i followed ur lead nelly and made them their own banner :hyper:

i was looking at some of your other posts nelly, wow you have very impressive fish :)

thanks :good: I love my fish but if you see in the sell section iam selling brutis :(
i really do not want to but hes scaring the oscars into full time hiding<has not attacked them yet but its not the way for my fishes to survive  and as iam not upgrading yet as cant sell my flat i have to face up to it and sell brutis on -_-

yes i buy frozen prawns and thaw them out then feed them but fresh will work, a treat 2-3times a week,,,,

also desheeled peas once or twice aweek will help with constipation!!!!!!!!!!

awwww

well the new owner will be getting a beautiful fish, thats sad, but im sure you know your doing the right thing

well we have finally come up with names

JAMBO-the darker one
BUDDIE-the paler one-bottom of the pic

they really suit them !

nelly i forgot to ask, if they have been together for over a year( i think i saw), why would brutus start getting bad/natural towards them now??- is that what you would expect to happen? and what about Oscar, will he miss him do u think??

cichlids are notorius for suddenly changing when they mature and attack/kill other cichlids in the tank,,,
its a natural instinct!!!!!!!!!!!
its possible one day that this could happen once your oscars mature and decide to test each others strenth, this IS GOING To happen so be prepared one day to discover them lip locking/head to tail quivering/ if one decides to run and the other thinks it weak it will persue it around the tank,,,i found my oscars did this at around 5-6inches :shifty:

great names by the way :good:

well a few days have passed since i posted, and i just wanted to let you know how they are, in a word fantastic they let us hand feed them with no problems at all, they have never gone back into a sulk, even tho i was doing massive water changes with cold water from the garden tap, they are on a diet of, cichlids sticks, bloodworm, and prawns, and they love it all, no problema at all with them, the only thing i have done is stop using the air curtain as im pretty sure it was this making the tank cloudy, but i have set the filters so that the return nozzle is moving the water, and they are fine with that, unforuatley i havent been able to get an external filter as my gas bill arrived (£630 from august), but i am cleaning the 2 in there about every 3 days, and they seem to be doing fine,
there was an incident when i first tried to feed them by hand, and jambo got my finger instead of the stick :hyper: i nearly had a heart attack ,only as i just wasnt expecting it,didnt hurt or anything
another funny thing they do is if i sit on the sofa they sit at that end of the tank, if the tiv goes on then they move to the other end to watch it,
i have been trying to get a video of them, but something must be wrong with my camera,as when i put it video mode it goes really dark,i will keep trying cos i really want to show them off
heres a new photo ( about 10 mins ago, not very good, think i may need a new camera-but i need a filter first!)

i will try again to get a video, maybe when the sun comes out i may have more luck

Nice oscars again, I couldn't imagine keeping fish tanks and not having oscars at some point. My camera's on charge, but when its done I should be uploading pictures of most of my fish, including the oscar and tankmates.

I remember when I first had oscars (RIP), they were my favourite fish but unfortunately died about 2 years ago, really took a blow when they went within a few weeks of each other, I remember when I asked my brother to feed them, so he was dangling a worm into the tank and one of them ignored the worm and grabbed his thumb, he let out a rare scream, I was laughing, but he was more concerned about with how it had drawn blood :p, only abit but I thought it was funny.

Are those real or fake plants you got in their tank?

hi shroob, they are all real plants, they are lasting well i have to say, tho all totally covered in sand  like everything else in there, maybe when i get my external ( when) that will sort that problem out..cant wait to see the pics shroob, if your tank is tidyer then theres i will show it to them and shame them into having a sweep up lol
i couldnt imagine being without them now,as i said in another post, nothing is too much trouble when it comes to this pair, daily water changes ( which i would normaly hate) but i know oscars are prone to HTH so i feel obliged to do it for them, and they dont get stroppy after it so thats kool and its a pleasure to do it, god knows what i will be like if anything happend to them

anyway looking forward to the pics, can you send me a link to the page,or put it on here, otherwise i may miss them

i have wanted to own oscars since forever

well after getting a 48x15x18, i have finaly got them, they are tiger oscars,i havent named them yet, but would be a shame not too,as my god they are little people!!!
i got them yesterday, had to leave them in the shop and come home and re-organise the tanks, but went back and when i got them home put them in a smaller tank just over night, with new plants that i got for them, a stick on thermometer as a pose to the glass one that was in there.. good job too!.. the words golden labrador springs to mind with this pair, big heavy, hungry lumps lol  , i have hoovered the tank twice already , the mess they make is unbelieveable, they are so funny, they swim then just lie down.totally knackered from swimming, took them a while to settle in and i managed to get a pic this morning, without using the flash, and the lights in the large tank are off now, so i will have to wait before i can take more ( awww) they are my windows background, my mobile background, im mad about them!!! and when they have settled in properly i want to start, interacting with them/feeding them by hand etc,i used to be scared of anything bigger than a neon  , but these two dont scare me at all, i hope you will all agree that they are beautifull, and so far are getting along fantastically, snuggling up to eachother,( doubt that will last) they are curently about 4-5 inches long each, but even at this size they are very impressive fish, their colours are fantastic, one being paler than the other, here they are, this was first thing this morning, after watching them almost all night
