It looks like it was previously used for a snake. So I need to clean the living heck out of it And test it for holding water. Once it is up and runnign though I can finaly have my oscar :D
However I Will have to DIY it a little bit as I have no hood and am not going to drop 80 bucks on them so i wanted to bounce my ideas off of you guys.

I do have the little flexible plastic joints for both lids though so I figure I will get plexiglass cut to replace the glass as its missing from half of one and broken on the other.

Since I do not have lights, Home depot does an under cabinet Led light set thats like 10-20 dollars I was thinking of getting those and mounting them inside some kind of shiny parabola or mirrored half moon to increase the output.

For a stand I am concerened about my own engineering skills and am probably just going to hit craigslist to try and find a free metal one.

Once all is said and done I hope to have the tank running for the cost of a filter and about 30 dollars :) I am more then willing to take suggestions on other ways to the lights or lid as this is going to be my first attempt at it.

Well done on the tank. How would you feel about making your own timber hood? Its simple really and if it didn't work out the way you wanted it to then its only a few £ wasted and you'll know if you can or can't do it.

Good luck

I would still want the pelxi glass to block splash from the filters if I went the wood route for the light fixture enclosures and such. I do know I am a horrible carpenter though I cant cut a straight line with a saw if I have a mitre box. lol
