Well after a couple months of searching for a big tank for my 4 rainbow sharks I finally settled on a wallmart special. We were in a town nearby about a week ago and almost got the tank then but there fish tanks looked dreadfull and I passed. The wallmart in my town however is very good about keeping it's fish. My mom wanted a big tank and we couldn't find a good used one. So we got it. It's set up and running now (No fish yet). I'm thinking about how I can do the cycle as the rainbow sharks are really getting aggressive and I need to get them in a bigger tank as soon as possible.
I have a ten gallon cycled right now with live plants. I was thinking that I could take the plants, filter, and a stocking full of gravel as well as three wcmm out of there and transfer them into the 55. Then I'd take the rainbow sharks out of the 29 and put them in the 55, and do small water changes daily until the cycle finishes. Then I'd take the CFBS and put him in the 29. I'd really like to do a fishless cycle with the big tank but I don't think the rainbow sharks will allow me to. They are doing a bunch of chasing and headbutting (if you've kept rainbow sharks you probably know what I mean) and I don't know how long it will be before they have a disease outbreak from the stress. Soooo... what's the fatal flaw in my plan?

EDIT (I'm dealing with gill flukes in the 29 right now but that should be taken care of tonight.)
