Well, I woke up today to find Bert the frogfish (Antennarius hispidus) dead. He hadn't looked all that comfortable the whole time I had him, and I suspect he just didn't ship very well from the wild. It's a shame as he looked pretty cool. So here are some last shots of the fella.

And so I needed something to keep the tank cycled, so off I headed to pastures new. I made the trek to see what all the fuss is as wildwoods and decided that I would never go there again. It's ok for puffers and some larger cats, but their marine section was worse than almost any I can think of.

So I headed to a local shop on the way home and saw a lovely Pterois antennata so I decided that would be the perfect fish to keep the tank cycled, after all, the chances of actually seeing another frogfish around here is pretty slim. Anyway, on with the pics!

Ah no, that sucks dude.
He had one of the best homes though.
Like the new arrival, the colours are great.

Wildwoods isn't that good for puffers in my opinion. When I went last they were keeping Mbu in betta racks (maybe only temporarily, but it didn't sit comfortable with me).

I was looking at lionfish today, whats the minimum tank size for one of those?

I love the lionfish, how much was he? (if you dont mind me asking) Also does it have a common name?

sorry bout the frogfish, but lovely new addition.

As i said, so sorry to here about bert

That is a very nice fish though, I new youd come back with something interesting when you said you were off to have a look ;)

Cheers for the words peeps.

Fella, they still have at least one Mbu in a betta rack, as well as numerous other puffers in betta racks. MAybe now I am into SW predators I just don't look on FW oddballs in the same light, but I really was expecting something better from Wildwoods.

Common name for this lion is Spotfin Lion. Scott Michael lists minimum tank size for one of these as 30 US gallons as the maximum size is
20cm. He cost just under £23.

I Still have my original frog (Frog Man - in my sig) and Bert's tank will now become a grow out for the 4 foot marine pred tank. I shall look to stock with a Pterois radiata, a moray of some type and then see what else I can find. I would love to find a stonefish for the tank.

And of course once I have the 4 foot stocked, I shall be looking for another frog to fill this tank with, or possibly look to get a pair of a smaller species and have a go at breeding frogs.

Sorry about the frog fish he's was such a cute fish.
Though love the colours of that new fish.

So sorry for your loss, he was a wonderful looking fish. I know they have one at my lfs but must admit it's the only place I've ever seen one.
Congratulations on your new buy, lovely looking!
