It definately looks like one of my Black Moors has mild body fungus growths (white cotton wool). I've isolated the fish in a small tank but was wondering whats the best course of treatment? The problem seems to be to be that a lot of the ones recommended arent available in the UK. The one exception I've foudn so far being Methalyene Blue. Is this ok or can anyone recommend anthing better.

Sounds like you need to make a definite diagnosis...

"cotton wool" can means its columnaris, which is a bacteria and then needs different meds ;)

I would post pics in "emergencies" if unsure and go from there

Columaris - possible meds aqua pro-cure or revive, not sure if they're available in the uk

Esha 2000 treats bacterial and fungal diseases so you've got both covered :) Need to order online though as most shops don't stock it
Interpet isn't great in my experience. If you can't get Esha get waterlife meds - i think you want protozin or myxazin

I wish i had read the reply s before going out! I've just be to the LFS and they recommended a dose of Methylene Blue followed by the Fin Rot one if that doesn't work. I bought a battery powered mini pump and air stone as well to help get some turbulence on the surface of the water. But I cant take photos now as the tank is a deep shade of blue. When I say cotton wool, it looks like the fish has small strands of cotton weaved across its body. Its not the white spot type found with ick but not sure how to tell the difference between a bacterial infection or a fungal one.

My concern though is that the fish will just starve to death before anything else. It hasn't eaten for a couple of days and whilst I know they can go for a few days without eating, there obviously comes a limit to this.
