Good Tankmates For American Toads?

are their any suggestions with what may go great in a 4ft tank with three american toads...i was thinking a couple of commin geckos and maybe some newts, the guy at the LFS said that u shouldnt mix the toads with gecko's because "u never know what may happen." Personally i think its ok because they are both big enough to not be seen as prey items, and they will not fit in eachothers mouths...the 4ft tank will be heavily planted with a 1ft section of water about 8 inches deep.

any opinions will be greatly appreciated

Don't geckos have different requirements?

I had a young garter with an adult toad for awhile, didn't have any issues.

I think geckos and toads have very different habitat requirements.

I am one of the people that never mix species,they have different requirements and they can carry diseases that can be fatal to other species
