Please list any good aquatic plant shops in the leeds area.

As plants travel well the internet may be a good place to look.

My local Maidenhead Aquatics have installed a complete new plant set-up/supplier. It maybe just my local one but they are a chain so do you have one in Leeds?

not that i know of. Plants are just so expensive in the lfs's i go too, they sre cheaper online but often damaged or un healthy, there must be a little gem in Leeds somewhere...

I use Pet City in town, lower Kirkgate they have an 'ok' range of aquatic plants!

Miss Wiggle and Rabbut will be able to help you with this. Rabbut works in a fish store in leeds

i'm afraid the internet it really your best option for plants, i wish there was a little gem around here but sadly not!! (sorry Rabbut!)

QSS in Bradford usually have relativley healthy plants but they don't really have anything out of the ordinary, seen plenty of houseplants for sale in there as aquatic as well. Paws for thought on the York Road, again bog standard selection, if you get them on the day they're delivered they're usually fairly good...... if they've been sat there a week or so they won't be quite up to standard. :/

really best to try one of the on-line shops if you want really good quality plants.

thanks for the info guys. Yea i go to paws for thought most thursdays for the new stock but their plants are really expensive.

So this brings me onto the subject of online shops, which are the best?

if you think PFT are expensive for plants then you need to adjust your expectations to be totally honest! That's standard fish shop pricing. What might suit you is one of the plant bundle deals you can buy, you basically get a pre-selected pack with loads of different ones in, can buy different sized bundles suitable for different sized tanks, they do seem to be fdairly good value, try greenline, heard good things aboiut their bundles.

i agree with miss wiggle, i am about to upgrade my tank and go fully planted have been looking into it a lot online and have decided to go for 1 of greenlines 48" tank selections very cheap and got good reviews on pfk website

to be honest i think you've got more money than sense if you're willng to pay £2.50 - £5.00 for a single common plant, especially when considering a fully planted aquarium. Thanks for the online recommendation, great bargain.

if your buying brands of plant like tropica or aqua fleur, the quality is second to none, it may just be 1 pot, but you can get a lot of plants out of 1 pot usually, selections are good for beginners, but as you advance you can grow different things and aqua fleur and tropica are great for that, id say if your buying individual plants, go for tropica, if you want a collection or a bulk deal for a fish house, go with greenline, but saying that greenline do stuff that tropica and aquafleur doesnt, and vice versa.

Absolutely; you will usually get more than one plant in a Tropica pot. I bought one potted Anubias and got three in it. If you really don't want to trust your LFS, my choice would be Greenline. But someone needs to sign for the plants when they arrive at your home/workplace. With quality plants, you really do get what you pay for; cheap bunches are, for me, a false economy.
