I started a new 20 gallons fresh water tank. After several weeks I noticed the water looked cloudy. It turned out to be dirty glass on the inside of the tank. I bought a sponge on a plastic stick but it doesn’t budge the film and green algae. What type or brand of sponge would you use instead of the cheap ones? I don’t care for the magnet type. Thanks for any replies.

I prefer to use a sponge over a algae magnet, tbh...

No, I'm not kidding. The original version has no cleaning chemicals. It's just a super dense sponge, that removes algae from glass much better than anything else I've tried.

I've been using the magic eraser since I heard it mentioned on these forums. I thought the same thing at first that it had chemicals on it but it doesn't.

Mr Clean Magic Erasers all the way, baby! Just get the kind with no cleaning chemicals. For BBA and other tough stuff, an old credit card works great and won't scratch your glass.

I use snails 😜 and my filters sponge

I use a bamboo toothbrush but I only have small tanks, might be a bit too much work with a 20g!

OK I'm sold. Put a pack of unbranded ones in my basket as its been a few months since I did the glass. Never noticed a huge difference on the big tank because it doesn't get much ...
Then I did the flex which was in desparate need. Yes I'll be using these again. Bonus that they are white so you can see any bits you missed.
For those in the UK these are what I got https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DF32KWVT
