So would just like to say YAY for figuring out that my PH was too acidic! the water test was yellow... no wonder I could never keep tetras or angel's for too long before they died! Anyway I have rectified the problem and tested my tank this morning and the water test is a wonderful blue/green colour, a wonderful 7.0!

WINNER!!!

that is all. :)

Congratulations! Can you let everyone know how you rectified the problem so others with this same issue will know what worked for you?

So how did you change it? Also, my PH in my tank is 6.2, and my tetras and angels do very well in that? What kind of tetras have you been keeping? Cardinals and neons for example usually do better in acidic water; cardinals in the wild are often found in a PH of 3-4.

Hmm that is interesting. I have neon tetras and I've tried keeping them twice now and they all died as did my angels. I don't know what happened maybe the other fish were bullying them and they were too stressed or something?

I used a powder called KH powder + 7.0 with added potassium It's Australian owned. I shall tell you what it says on the tub

This product increases the carbonated hardness of water and stabilises pH to ensure the good health and longer life of your fish.
1 tsp to 10 Litres of water will raise carbonate hardness by approx. 8 kH or 142ppm and stabilise pH to around 7.0.

So because I have a 55 litre tank to start I measured 4 teaspoons and poured it straight in, waited 24 hours and re tested my water and it was perfect :)

Like I said it's Aussie owned and I don't think you can buy it anywhere else, but i'm sure if you went to your local fish store they would be able to help you :)

Hope that helped. Let me know if you have any more questions

Sounds similar to what some reef keepers use called kalkwasser or kalk for short.
