LONDON...

Ok everyone on here complains that LFS are never any good and no one really knows who to trust. So how about we start a list where everyone posts their LFS that they are HAPPY with.. including name location and perhaps a quick note why. This way maybe newbies can go to these places and get some good advice rather than posting on here after they've done it wrong because of LFS advice!

Also put in block letters the town so people can skim through the list and see their area easily!

I'll begin:

Design Aquatic Centre (Great Portland Street London)- Very knowledgable, tanks always clean, always good accurate advice.

World of Water (Kings Langley/Watford)- Honest, clean tanks, good advice and they have lots of time for you!

Please everyone add your GOOD LFS as I think it could be really useful to all those who have had so many bad experiences.

Yep US too, anywhere just so people think about where they're going and hopefully can find somewhere local looking at this thread! The more the better!

United Kingdom

East Yorkshire

Kingston upon hull

Frisby Aquatics (my local fish store)

Best one in the town, all tanks have thier own filter system and are well looked after..

Good prices as well.

United States, California

City: Sacramento (downtown)

"O" Street Aquarium

Comments:
I was very impressed with this store. Their selection of both fresh and saltwater organisms was quite large considering the size of the store. Their cichlid selection is superb. The tanks were spotless. Their staff is friendly and knowledgeablel.

City: Sacramento (West Sac)

Exotic Aquarium

Comments:
Gigantic store, although it is not a chain store. Row upon row of tanks, huge selection of both common and difficult to find species. Friendly staff, they believe in the bacteria potions though so I distrust their knowledge in that regard, but their knowledge of the fish themselves has been extensive in my experience.

Maidenhead aquatics in New Haw/Addlestone.

Very friendly staff who're willing to help and know what they're talking about (can only say this for Freshwater as I've not been in to get advise for Marine), tanks are clean also :) It's also got a good selection of fish of which the staff know about :D

Just wondered might be worth a visit, it's about an hour from me.

Went here once and was very good and helpful.

Beverly nearer for you.
Not going all the way out there just to go to an lfs lol.
I would rather go to bridlington for the day.

Maidenhead Aquatics St Albans. Always helpful. Tanks always clean, massive selection of fish.

Lucky thing not far from the beach.

5teady, wish I'd read this earlier, I'm at my mum's in Hull and like to visit new LFS's.

I was thinking of going to Maidenhead aquatics in Beverley but couldn't get intouch with them for opening times so didnt.

Anyway, from my experiance.....

UK - West Yorkshire

Halifax - Calder Valley Aquatics http://caldervalleyaquatics.co.uk/
Review: I like CVA and is my fav as they didn't try and push me down on fishless cycling. They're really helpful and are the closest to my house. Provide email updates for new stock.

Huddersfield - Transcontinental Goldfish http://www.aquatic-specialists.co.uk/
Review: I would say that this holds more actual equipment than CVA but they seem to stock more rare type stuff. Just depends what you're looking for.
