Good Hardy Fish

personally, i have found cardinals to be hardier than neons. but they both require a mature tank.

cheers :good:
really oh because my dad cycled his tank with neon and did not lose any
but has lost 3 cardinals in a 1 year matured tank

that could be luck (and a dose ofbeing unlucky too)

I've found my neons relatively hardy, coming to the end of a fish in cycle and in the process I've had more problems with guppies than neons, I guess the health of a particular fish means more than how hardy it is supposed to be.

Nonetheless, I wouldn't say either was really suited to a 7g.

Endlers would be fine, maybe 3-5 males depending on whether/what tankmates you wanted. You could also have snails, shrimp, dwarf frogs, possibly pygmy cories.

Hi everyone thanks for your suggestions i have decided i would like to get some neon tetra, guppies and cherry barb but i am not sure if they get on and i am not sure how many to get and whether they will be able to live in my tank that is h,38cm w,32cm d,32cm. Please give your suggestions as you were so good last time.

In that case I would say either 5 male guppies, or a trio (1 male, 2 female) of cherry barbs. Although you might be ok with a couple more barbs, I'm not familiar with their behaviour.

The neons need to be kept in groups to display properly and a 7 gallon is quite small in terms of a group of them plus something else. Instead, you might avoid shoaling fish and look for singles if you want a variety. I personally like endlers but they will soon overpopulate a tan that small. Some other very small fish that work well are golden teddies or even Heterandria formosa. They can be kept with each other or other similar small fish without a problem.
