So I lost my fighter last night which made me less than happy, but I love them so much so I think I'll try again. I won't risk putting another in my community tank again, don't really want a repeat of dropsy. So I'm gonna go for a dedicated tank, I want it to be quite heavily planted so I'll need a suitable substrate, are there any that I should shy away from (Aside from sharp pointy things obviously)? Also I'm gonna go for a 12" cube, can anyone suggest a decent filter for this size tank? The only ones I've seen are pretty big and powerful which I've been told by a couple of members would lead to a sad Betta. Cheers guys :)

We use sponge filters in our tanks and the flow is much easier to control as you can get airline clamps which you can loosen and tighten to adjust the flow out. If you contact Modaz on here, he supplies a really good one :good:

yay! Glad you haven't given up on bettas! I have a sponge filter from modaz, it is great and the only noise is from the bubbles! wooo!
