Well my baby Blaze hasn't had a very good day, earlier i noticed a mark on him where he had torn away some of his scales, i could deal with that when i was told he would heal up nicely with clean water and antibacterial meds, checked on him just under an hour ago and looks like his swimbladder but it is worse than it was earlier this week, i moved him back into his tank still with only half water, hospital tank is currently holding my sisters guppies, so won't get it back until tomorrow, will move him straight in there and get the peas ready but i am begining to think i will never get my baby back how he was :-( i am trying to stay possitive but slowly realising that he is getting worse, i cannot bring myself to end his suffering yet or anytime soon, doubt i'll ever have the strength to do it. all i can do is hope and pray for him to make a miricle recovery and to make it worse i am going on holiday for 2 weeks starting next saturday, so if he hasn't improved by then i don't know what i'll do, i wouldn't be able to bear leaving him, living 14 days not knowing whether he is dead or not and whether the person feeding him is giving him peas not pellets. sorry to go on i have tears running down my face as i am typing this.
Sorry but thought i would brighten up the topic a bit with a few pics of the good times we have had.

This one was taken a few days after i got him

aww! sweet little man!

have you tried the epsom salt yet? i got critisism for it before, but it really is recommended and i'm not the only one to say so. it's a common solution for swimbladder..and it always helps my little ones.

epsom salt. it flushes them out so that if they are constipated and if that's what's cuasing the swimbladder, they will be fine within a few hours. it's never failed for my little guys and their symptoms were:

floating at the top sideways. when i would come near, they would jump back to normal but slowly float right back, along with a swollen belly. they were also trying to get air much more often. they weren't eating b/c it was too uncomfortable. i didn't they think were constipated because i hadn't fed some of them in a couple days, but epsom salt is the only thing that seems to help some of mine.

So sorry to hear about your baby. I am having the same problem with mine. I plan to try the epsom salt for him tonight. I will let you know how it works out for me.

Should be epsom salt. 1 tsp/g for 10-15 minutes

just a side note that i only added 1 tsp for my 2.5 gallon and it worked just fine. i also left mine in overnight though. heat most likely knows what she's talking about though too. i would trust her :D

thanks for the kind words guys, will try my best to find some epson salt somewhere although the only place i have ever seen it is ebay, going to the LFS tomorrow so if not will have to order some off ebay and get it first class so its with me next day :good:

Try a WalMart or something of that nature...I think they sell it in major retailers as well. I would think it would all be the same stuff, no? Just a suggestion.

most chemists will sell it in england lilfishie :)

I don't know about epsom salt... but if it works for some... then it's up to you to give it a try. You could probably find this at a pharmacy... unless there is an aquarium grade? Whatever you do... if you're adding any salt to water (epsom or aquarium)... disolve some in treated water first - don't pour the salt directly into the tank---it can burn your fish's delicate scales/fins and slime coat. Good luck!

You should be able to find epsom salt in any pharmacy or shop that sells pharmacuticles - it's used by humans as a bruise soak and other things.

Never heard of it for fish, but if someone's used it to good effect, then I think it's worth a shot. Maybe even just as a salt dip.

just so you guys know we call a pharmacy a chemist in england :)
