Hi all I don't keep goldfish and I won't keep them after the trouble I had
But I would like to ask what is the minimum tank size for one goldfish this concerns me
As I work in a petshop and I thought it was 1 gold= am min of 80-100L of water and 40L extra per other goldy
I've been asked to gather evidence that this is true and what happens to goldfish that are kept in tiny tanks eg30L
Thanks in advance

Liquid

Because I have been told and taught at college that the outta body stops growIng but the internal organs don't until deformities and death due to the strain on the body :)

Thanks again

I agree with you on what happens if they are kept in smaller tanks.

I always thought that for goldfish it was 140 litres for the first and 60 litres for each additional one. They also need heavy filtration.

Well that's even better I just get completely heart broken when I have to sell like 4 or even one goldy to someone who dsnt know what they need it makes me feel as ba as the ones that say its ok :( I've been telling my self as long as I make sure my Bettas n Angels are happy n healthy I shldnt feel like I'm letting the goldies down but that dsnt work I feel horrible :(

I feel for you, Liquid skills :(

Unfortunately it is very hard to get really, authoritative advice on goldies.

The RSPCA for example, on their site, say a minimum of 10g/45l, which most goldie people would agree isn't big enough.

The best I can do for you is post the pics I've collected from the internet that demonstrate the difference between fish kept in proper conditions and very poor ones.

A similar type goldie, kept in a 100l+ tank from purchase, with a 5l 'goldfish home' for omparison;

(This was posted on another forum, and we've been given permission to use it, for illustrative purposes, so thanks, Suzanne, for that :good: )
