Golden Wonders

Today I was able to buy a pair of golden wonder killies. I hope I did get a pair. These fish are relatively easy to sex, although when in a group, the less dominant males tend to lose their colours. So, I took the most colourful and the less colourful hoping that I have a pair.

They have a 80 litre planted tank all for themselves and hope they will like their new home enough to start breeding soon.

If my trio are anything to go by, the male will harrass the females a lot in a brightly lit tank, so much so that I still wonder if he was responsible for the death of my third female (she was found in the area where they had all been spawning, albeit I've never spotted the eggs or any fry but I guess they were eaten).

If your female gets little peace, I recommend buying two more girls to distract the hormone loaded male

You are right, I wanted to, but there were only more males available. I hope the density of the planting provides enough hiding places for the female. Until now they are doing fine. Eating together
