Gold Severums And Plants

why not do what im doing mel. i got my sev then found out about the plant destroying. so im keeping him and doing trial and error with plants till i find some he will leave alone

No doubt that will be the end result lol I only give up fish if they are real bullies, but I doubt my plants have feelings, I know I will get attached to the sev if I get him

trust me if you get a sev you WILL get attatched to him. when i got mine and he started to murder the plants i decided i was gonna get rid of him , arranged for him to go back to lfs to swap for something else but when it came to it i just couldnt do it . so the sev stayed and some silk plants replaced most of the real ones but i decided i dont like them so i have ended up trying to tailor the planting around his whims. i mean this is a fish that actualy manages to pull of the "puppy dog eyes "

hehehe seems everybody has the same problem with gold sevs. I've had mine for over a year now and he's only recently started not bothering about my plants. He can't get my onion plant cause I have hid it away at the back. Don't get any plants with a red colouration to them as they will be pretty much destroyed within a few days. Just feed him a few times a day and every 2 or 3 days feed him frozen foods like bloodworm and he should be ok. Green sevs are far far worse than gold sevs, the green ones destroy whatever plants you have but with the gold it will pick certain types. Even if the gold sev does destroy everything they are really nice to have and to me are def worth buying.

my green sev doesnt touch any of my plants and i have amazon swords and another which i dont know what it is...i just think its the same as any other cichlid all down to personality weather its aggression or fetish for plants just hope you get lucky like me and get one that does not chew through any plant

I hope so too. It's like with the rainbow sharks I've had, some have been well aggressive and had to go and others (like the current) one been utter pussy cats and hide from other fish lol
