Gold Severum Aggression

I have a 5ft tank. In there I have gold severums, Uaru cichlids, keyhole cichlids, rainbows etc. everything has been fine for months but now all of a sudden one of the gold severums has become very aggressive, chases the other one around as well as the uaru's and the keyholes. He leaves my rainbows, clown loaches etc but continuely pesters the rest.
He has developed red spots on his face and body, so presume its a red spotted gold Severum. I wondered if there was anything I could do to stop the aggression? Feeding more, more hiding places. Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks

Sounds like a nice tank If your Gold Severum has developed red face markingings I imagine this means that they are a male. Going to guess that you have raised him for a number of months and now he is around 6 inches or so? If so he has hit sexual maturity and trying to find a mate - your other Sev may be female and not far behind.

The best trick to try and get rid of the aggression, firstly try just taking him out the tank for a while into a bucket. Then re scape the tank so everything is different let the other fish settle down for say half an hour or so and then re introduce him into the tank, hopefully he will be too busy trying to work out what everything is to start chasing - there is a chance he will flare up again though.

Yeh, have had him for 6 Months and he other one is dull coloured so presume its a female, I might try that suggestion and see what happens.............
