I posted about two weeks ago that my two year old put a guppy in the betta tank...
Well... it happened again!
I was in the laundry room. Finding him some clothes, and I go to the bedroom and he's screaming "fish in the betta tank! He's so happy!".........
I think I can say now that the injuries to the first guppy were from my son, not my betta. This one had the same injuries, but I'm pretty sure is now dead. The first one survived...
And while I was trying to save the guppy, Ben goes in the living room and manages to break the filter in the cichlid tank.... (I was able to fix it after about 15 minutes of hard work!))
Ugh!!!!!!"""

I don't know what to do anymore!!! Do they make behavioral management for two year olds???

Don't give up fish keeping - sedate your son.
Lol, on a more serious note can you fix a lid or lock to the lid on the tanks so your son can't get in them?

We have ductaped them... but that doesn't work. He has already broken one of my lids on the 55....:that I need to replace because now its prone to falling in the tank....

I had someone that was going to take all of my guppies. I was hesitant to give her all of them because she had a 20 gallon and a ten gallon she was going to put them in. But I have like... 50+ guppies... and I wasn't sure they'd be comfortable in those with that many... but I was going to go ahead and give her most of them. (And I had another friend to give the rest to. She recently bought my 30 gallon breeder tank. But she informed me today that she has pretty much decided she doesn't want guppies!)
But before I gave most of them to the woman, I was going to treat them for ich. Because they started scratching... but my goodness. They would definitely be better off in smaller tanks to be saved from my son!!!

my wee brother is three and he decided twice that he would put the gold fish in his paddling that was one year ago i did give up keeping them but i recently got back in with tropics and i am cycling my wee guppy tank when i came home from school to find he had put playdoo a crayon and loads of money into the tank agggh but what i would do is buld a sort of wall around it with a stair gate to keep him away i also tell my brother that the big tank is burny and it will burn him if he touches it so hes stays away from that one at least

Play cowboys and Indians with him tie him up and say you will release him on his 12th birthday lol

Maybe you can invent a childproofing system for aquariums, you'd make a fortune!
Hope you manage to solve it somehow, would be a shame if you had to give up completely

The poor guppies are just so vulnerable! My goodness, I have to do my best to not suck half them up when I'm vacuuming the tank! They know no fear!
I guess he just doesn't understand that he is not helping the fish!!!

He's been in the terrible twos since he could walk... which was 10 months............

My youngest went through a phase of chucking things down the toilet when he was about 18 months.  Fortunately neither of them have ever messed with the fish tanks but then the little one is too small to reach even now he's 3 years old... can you raise your tanks out of reach somehow?

An alternative would be too get piranhas so they eat his hand if he ever mess with them. ;)
