Anyone heard of them/have them. Are they a good fish to keep. Are they easy to buy? etc? I think they are a stunning and unusually pretty fish. If I could get some are they ok with guppies and platys?

glass catfish are pretty fragile, and not unknown to dying for no apparent reason. They must be kept in large groups, or they will sometimes die of stress or go on hunger strikes. I don't see why not in regards to platies and guppies, but make sure your tank is big enough to support a group of 8 4 inch fish. They aren't hard to find and buy, but they can be expensive, usually 4-8 dollars a piece.

My glass catfish of 11 years just died last month. Never a problem with guppies or platys or any other fish. Very peaceful.

Good luck!

My LFS always has them. I think it depends on the individual shop, as the larger ones like Pets at Home never seem to have them, or at least I've never seen them there.

You could always ask your LFS if they could order some in if they didn't have any in stock. They're not the cheapest of fish to buy from what I've seen, but nor are they overly expensive.

Glass cats are a breeze to find. They can be kept in rather small numbers in a typical peaceful tank but should not be kept alone. They seem to like a few of their own number for companions.
