My ghost shrimp are no where to be seen... either my betta is eatting them ( which is possible cause he is a PIG :look: ) or they are hiding for a very long time... or they are dying and leaving no evidence. My tank has been to hot during a wonderful heat wave we have been having and I am wondering if that might be the cause...? I really like them and I was wondering if I can't do well with them is there another kind of shrimp I can keep in my tank?

or am I maybe doing something wrong that is making them die?

There could be a number of reasons why they are not there. Like you said, your betta could have ate them. Another reason is that a good majority of the Palaeomonidae shrimp imported into the United States aquarium trade are not freshwater, but are brackish to marine, so they could be dieing. What is the temperature of the water? Ghost Shrimp are pretty hardy and will tolerate a wide range of temperatures. They could also be hiding from the betta, they usually do this when larger/aggressive fih are around. Move around plants and decor and check if they are hiding.

ok :( I looked around the tank and underneath my big decoration thingy I found 1 dead one and what could be decaying shrimp... its hard to tell it could just be food. I did find one little guy alive but I should have around 6... its a small tank so I think they are dead :byebye: I do put a little salt in my tank but not much because of the cories.. I want something in ther e that willl help keep the gravel clean... any sugestions..

oh and I just got my water temp down to 82 degrees its friggin hot in here!!

Check inside the filter for the missing ones. There's one brand of filter that I won't put in with ghost shrimp because they get sucked right in. (I lost about four the first night I ever had ghost shrimp.)

The cories are probably cleaning up whatever is left over after the betta is done. Ghost shrimp must be a delicacy in the fish world!

There's a thread over in Tropical Chit-Chat about ghost shrimp if you're interested!

if they are just disappearing without a trace, the same thing happened to me. one of my sunset tetras just disappeared. i couldn't find him anywhere, i looked in and out of the tank. god knows where he is....or she.
