Galaxy Rasbora Postal Problem?

If you use a dedicated courier like TNT then you won't get these problems, when they say a parcel will be there before 10.30 it will be there before 10.30. Royal Mail may be a cheaper option but as a hobbiest and a seller you have a responsibilty to ship fish correctly and safely. I seem to remember there was a topic before about you sending fish via royal mail and them being late which got nasty when someone pointed out the legalities of the matter. Maybe it wasnt you but this is a problem that keeps on popping up and should not be happening. By the term "fry" they actually mean the larval state of the fish and once the fish start to look like minature versions of the adults they are classed as being fish, i doubt and hope you weren't selling "fry".

Why is it do you think that none of the mail order fish stores such as Trimar, Wildwoods and Wholesale Tropicals, just to name a few, use Royal Mail to send their fish and all use over night dedicated courier companies?

I actually contacted the company that Trimar use and even they wouldn't 100% guarantee that problems wouldn't occur.

As I said I did state that I preferred collection of the fry but if a person wishes to take the risk of having me post them then that is there option.

If you wish to carry on venting then do so without me, but as far as I'm concerned this issue is now closed.

Venting  it really doesnt matter to me how you choose to transport your stock to your customers but when it comes up on the forum we have a responsibilty to point out that posting fish via Royal Mail is against their rules and should not be considered as normal practice.

Ok just a brief note the delay in delivery had nothing to do with Royal Mail but the severe weather warning and flights were cancelled upto Scotland, if I had been advised by the buyer of the problems at their end I could have arranged delivery at another time.

The same would have held true for any courier company travelling North.

In Manchester we have sunshine but cold with high winds, but nothing transport couldn't have coped with.

Delivery is guarantee'd tomorrow.

i wouldn't use TNT myself as we lost £4,000 in sales at the company i worked for due to TNTs next day delivery which took them 2 days getting the products to scotland too late so the buyer wouldn't accept them and sent them back.

Never had a problem with apc though their standard charge is a bit steep if only a small number of fish are being sent.

I just used TNT as an example as they were the first courier company that popped into my head, i remember ordering some fish from Trimar many years ago and TNT was the company they used back then, i have no idea if they still do or have switched.

managed to get fish tonight all fish are alive and active in bag, so will see how it goes with them

do you think angels would eat them???

these angels are only young about 2-3"

or would the galaxy rasboras eat a few days old guppie fry??

I'm glad to hear they arrived safely.

They arent really suited to being kept with angels as they need cooler water with a fair bit of current. What are your tank options?

I've not got any of the fish you mentioned but Angels are notorious for eating neons and these guys are smaller than neons so I wouldn't risk it with the Angels.

Even if they do eat the guppy fry its defiantly the safer tank for the Rasboras to be in and its not like the guppies wont have more fry soon.

true , they are going to be going into a tank of their own soon but its got high ammonia at the moment so aint even gonna put them in there, i am currently fixing this problem i think i will put them in the guppie fry tank and put a diivider up so the fry can go there!

ok woke up this morning to find 7 not 8 galaxy rasboras, the other one is disappeared there is no traces of it at all!!!

could the others of eating it and could they eat the whole just overnight???

they're so small that if one of them died overnight the others could certainly pick the body to the point you would have a very hard time finding it
