A shoal of these fish were due to be delivered to me by 1pm today special delivery!

but they are delayed in transit and not even in the city yet so will not recieve these today.

wll they make it and when i do get them and if any are alive anything i can do to help them from the shock????

Keep your fingers crossed. I think they would of been in transit for longer than that when they were imported so would hopefully be ok.

Do you know which courier is carrying them? Hopefully they should be labeled as live fish and will be kept somewhere appropriate in the warehouse.

royal mail!!!!(the worst one)

these were posted from manchester last night by special delivery. So they were shipped today instead and are still in transit and now as its past 1pm i cant get them till tomorrow and dont think they are labelled! is there anything i can do tommorrow for them from the shock of been in a bag for 48hours, if any are alive!

Take your time aclimatising them as the water will probably be quite cold and will take time to adjust. Also open the bag as soon as you get them to get some air in (asuming they aren't dead, if they are the sellers normally like a photo of the sealed bag for proof).

I don't think you are suppose to send adult fish via Royal Mail (eggs and fry are apparently ok) so I would asume they aren't labeled as live fish. All I can say is keep those fingers crossed that they either arrive today or nice and early tomorrow.

They are more likely to be ok if the have a heat pack in with them. I wouldn't want to post any fish this time of year without one.

the seller has just read this forum about 5 mins ago(im sure it was them as they have the same name as ebay name) , i
ve emailed them and pm'd them but still waiting on reply??

providing they have been packed appropriately (plenty of air and a heat pack) then they should be OK for 48hrs

just make sure the water is absolutely tip top for when they arrive, if they look reasonably healthy in the bag then acclimitise them slowly, if any have died in the bag or they look unwell don't acclimitise for long, just float the bag until the temp is reasonably equal and then plop them in, if they're ill from bad water the best thing you can do is get them into good water asap.

when you put them in the tank leave the lights out for 24hrs, if they seem shy or sluggish don't feed them the first day as if they don't eat it'll pollute the water.

Sending live fish or liquids by Royal Mail is against their rules and should they be discovered such parcels will be refused delivery and held at a depot until the sender comes to collect the parcel.

It makes me wonder what kind of idiot would send any fish let alone a species that is now endangered and banned from exportation via a method that does not cater for live aquatic animals when there are several private courier firms that offer live fish delievery services.

dont blame me im just the recipient not the sende!!

I wasnt blaming you!! Its the sellers fault not yours.

I'm the "idot" sending the fish through the post and they are fry which are not within the restricted rules of Royal Mail regulations, they can be posted as long as it follows their guidelines.

My fish are always posted double bagged, boxed with suitable heatpack - 40 hours and I use bubble wrap to cushion and retain heat, the box is once again wrapped with a plastic film to avoid any water leakage and clearly marked as to their content.

I've checked with other private carriers and even they cannot 100% guarantee that they will carry or sort live creatures any differently than Royal Mail do.

My fry were sold on Ebay with the proviso that they were collected, but they could be posted at the buyers own risk.

I may be a fool for having let them go on Ebay and not stipulating that they should have only been collected and not posted, but I'm not a fool in using Royal Mail. They are no different than any other courier company.. I know I've used quite a few at work and they all make cockups.

Thank you for your comments, tactful as always I see, it is one thing to express yourself but without thought for other peoples feelings is not nice especially in a Mod.

do you know what time you sent these yesterday and do you know what the weather is like down near you??
