I have a 90L tank with 10 neon tetra's at the moment....but i can't figure out what else i want to put in with them. I am deffinately getting a Dwarf gourami but what else should i put in
two things i was looking at were Corydoras Metae or Corydoras Julii - Leopard Cory
But im not sure =/
any suggestions would be awsome

in my experience, gourami isnt such a good idea with tiny little tetras...

probalby corys/plecos/ carnidal or jumpbo neon tetras lol.. or some shrimps

What is the bottom area of the aquarium? Does it have a suitably sized filter? Plants? Sand?

Assuming that the tank is 3*1*1 ft in size, has sand, some bogwood, at least mildly planted, a mature filter which is rated for the tank and stock slowly, I would recommend the following stock:
* 15 neons tetras
* 1m 2f Apistogramma (one of the harem species, not pair species, like A. cacatuoides or A. agasizzii)
* 10 Corys of one species

Hight- 38
length- 60
width- 40 ish....

would there be any other kinda centrepiece fish, i don't really think i could keep cichlids
And what is the maximum size cory i could have

Why wouldn't you be able to keep cichlids? Are you allergic to them?

I would stick to the "dwarf" species of Cory, although any of the smaller ones will probably be fine. I have listed the "dwarf" species in a list of small fishes: http/aquariumadventure.wordpress.com/species-for-a-60-litre-aquariums/

That depends on the species, same as with tetras, etc. Basically, if you take care and don't do anything stupid, you'd probably be fine with most species. Problems arise when people don't look after these fish correctly, same as they would with Corys and tetras.

That very much depends on the species. I list some suitable ones here: http/aquariumadventure.wordpress.com/2011/07/28/picking-species%E2%80%A6/ and I decided to go for Pseudosphromenus dayi (http/aquariumadventure.wordpress.com/2011/09/04/pseudosphromenus-dayi/ ) for a similar tank. Personally, I would avoid dwarf gouramis as having too much potential for an attitude, although in my personal experience, they were fine.

You're talking about an SA biotope-like tank here, so I'd definitely pick an SA dwarf cichlid, as I wouldn't even think of looking at any other one, and go for a proper blackwater biotope. Because of the dimensions of your tank, I would chose a pair cichlid instead of a harem one and take only a pair. I think I would probably chose a pair of Apistogramma borellii because the blue and yellow colours will contrast nicely with the red bellies of the neons.

I don't have any "always favourite" fish, I have different favourites for every setup

cherry shrimp or julii cory's?
Just found a breeder of cherry shrimp close by and wondering if they are any good

There's no reason you can't have shrimp AND corys. There's always the risk other fish may eat the cherry shrimp, but I chucked two egg-filled cherry shrimp in my tank a few months ago and have dozens now, and they've lived with rams, apistos and a gourami (and corys and tetras). Plenty of cover and there's no reason you couldn't have a little breeding colony of them.

so that would mean in my future set up-
10 neon tetra's
1 gourami of some sort- can't find any nice suggested ones in adelaide
cherry shrip- don't know how many....
Julii cory's- don't know how many....

What's your tap water pH (and hardness)? That may be the deciding factor. Test after the water has stood in a glass for 24 hours.

It's higher than I like for neons and Corys, but so high that I'd be worried. The pH is better for shrimp than Corys though, so I'd say go for them.

As for gouramis, do look around, I'm sure there are a lot of LFS in the area. Ask the best ones if they'll order the fish in for you, or call the ones which are not so close if you do not go all the way to visit them.
