Fast little guys, hope you like :)

They are beautiful :hyper: ...... do they breed in your tank Liam?

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated, they are nice looking little fish, they are quite common in the trade so not hard to find and are quite hardy and easy to keep. Isnail they do lay lots of eggs but so far only two babies have grown past bite size in a community tank, the eggs are tiny and so are the fry.

Lovely pics there :)

When i was breeding these i was using java moss, and places some in the tank and every 5 days remove it and out into a rearing tank and with in 2-3 days i would be getting loads of fry hatching, feed on micro worm then brine shrimp and they do well.

Liam, helterskelter

What temperatures and pH are suitable for breeding these rainbows? Also, does lighting period affect the onset of breeding?

I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!

Are they available in Australia??

You are a lot closer to where they originate from than us in the UK  They come from Papua New Guinea. They are beautiful. Ones I see in my LFS are usually very young and the colour still not developed. They call them Forktail/scissor tail blue eyed rainbows. Hope you find some in your LFS.

Photoperiod was never a problem, my room lights turned on at 6am off at 10, back on at 3 and off at 10pm

Water was hard and never special just out the tap quality and pH is 7.5-8.
Temp was usualy coolish at 72-76 max
