Fry Tank

This is my 20l upstairs which is currently housing 20 - 25 ish 1 day old guppy fry and 3 ickle cherry shrimp.

the plant on the left is plastic and my shrimp love to live in it. the ones on the right are real (i'm not sure what they are)

Is that too much for a small tank? i had the live plants in because i transfered the mummy up there to give birth and wanted the babies to have places to hide. should i take them out now?

If anything, those make up about half of the amount of plant I like to have in my fry tanks!

You can never have too many plants...

Or are you referring to the numbers of fry? If so I wouldn't worry, just keep up with water changes to keep them growing fast.

I was referring to the plants x really more plants would be good?? just worried their swimming would be restricted and they'd get ill. xx

water changes are about 20% ever 3 days or so. hope thats ok.

I have some bbs brewing in my hatchery for breakfast for them. yummy!

the more plants the better, plants are home to hundreds of micro organisms that the fry can feed on, I'd do 50% water changes daily personally.

ooooo really? I have never been very successful with fry as i usually just put them in a breeding trap in main tank. but now i know better so got a 20l.

50% every day?? will my shrimp be ok with that? litle pinch of aquarium salt too? my main tank gets a smidge but wasn't sure fry would be ok with it?

are any specific plants better for fry?

I wouldn't bother with Salt, there's no need for it, 50% is fine, the shrimp will be fine with it providing it's dechlorinated and temp matched.

yea i always put dechlorinator stuff in(which also has aloe vera in in???). I either use interpet - biosafe, or aqua one - water conditioner. more plants it is, and more water changes then . thank you for the advice x

I am absolutely amazed at the difference this time!!

Through help in this forum I have made the following changes to my fry raising attempts

• mummy got fed frozen brine shrimp, daphnia and normal flakes
• Out with the tiny breeding tank that just floats in the main tank
• In with a 20l separate tank setup
• Added live plants
• Lots of water changes
• Got my own brine shrimp hatchery so fry enjoy fresh BBS
• varied diet provided (BBS, frozen cyclops, ground spirulina, special fry food by tetramin)

They are only 4 or 5 days old and are already twice the size and maybe a bit more, they all look very healthy all the correct guppy shape. Very active and i haven't lost a single one

When trying the old way they took at least a few weeks to double in size! I'd say I'm an amateur now and this forum has helped me loads, will definitely recommend it to other beginners

the only thing u need is the [ IMG ] codes. i saw when i linked your pics, that site generated a bunch of nonsense codes. what i did was right click on the pic, and copied the image URL, then in the forum, when replying, clicked the

button, and pasted the URL. any pic u find on the internet, if u copy the pictures URL, u can click that

and paste it in, and it will generate the
