Frozen Food

I always use a syringe and then spread it around the tank, so everyone gets a chance, plus, i can then take 1 cube around 3 tanks, instead of 3 cubes, and leave the left overs in each tank.

Alright, but there isn't really any medical reason for doing this?

May I ask what the purpose of defrosting is?

If a bigger fish eats a big chunk or the whole cube, itll be like if you ate a few ice cubes. Im pretty sure that isnt good for the fish because they cant produce their own heat so itll take some time for them to warm up again.

I just toss the cube in there frozen anyways though because im lazy and i figure that if they are able to take a chunk out of the cube, it shouldnt be cold enough to do any harm. None of my fish can take more than a little piece of the cube anyways. I wouldnt suggest this with bigger fish that can take a cube whole though.

I defrost mine and often mix up several blocks of different frozen food ... so the fishes get a choice. (Quintet, by the way just has five different foods in individual blisters - I often get that).

Then, like kribensis, I use a syringe to spread it about the tanks, so everyone gets a chance to get some .... and I squirt some extra hard, so that it reaches the bottom for the loaches and cories.

I only feed once a day and I use the frozen food once or twice a week. If I get live food from the lfs then I swop that for one of the frozen feeds.

I fed a whole prozen cube the other night. They did seem to eat it all after some time. The cube started to Defrost and the fish strted picking at the worms and pulling them appart. Its funny to watch a Tetra swimming about with a whole worm hanging out of ts mouth. I may do the chopping up the cube though as a whole cube did seem a bit much.
