So I have a Dragon Goby, which is meant for Brackish water. Right now it's in a 50 gallon tank with mainly freshwater fish
1 Freshwater Fiddler Crabs (I am geting a couple more soon since they died due to a previous inbalence of Nitrite)
5 Long Fined Zebra Danio
4 Pictus Catfish
1 Rainbow Shark
1 Albino Bristlenose Plecostomus

After a bit of research, I know alot of these species will not at all do well in pure brackish. So is it possible to have a happy medium?

Not really, forcing completely freshwater fish to live in even low brackish conditions wouldnt be fair. It might not kill them but would certainly be very uncomfortable for them. The salt may well act as an irritant but it also changes the mineral content, the hardness? and certainly the density of the water as well.

I would be rehoming all but the goby and i think the fiddler crab.

The Fiddler crab is a brackish species and will do well at higher salinities it also needs a large land area as it spends most of its time out of the water

Just got up, tank is fine after last night's emergency partial water change. I changed my tank from freshwater to freshwater/brackish? How? Well, I got new fish after donating most of my large goldfish to a pond and by accident found these mini fiddler crabs ( that were in a tank mostly filled with water but had a moss-like climbing area,) anyway, so I bring the crabs home and make them a rock cave, lowered water level and heater, added 3" piece clean cholla which I removed later, added new plant, oh and added very small amount of salt to water. My fish are fine: dalmatian mollies, platys, cory's, betta, and a couple fintail goldfish I couldn't part with but will if they get bigger. So far, tank is fine and looks great! Much more natural. When purchasing crabs the girl answered my questions but did not give me material to read about crabs, I thought they were underwater creatures till I looked them up on the internet. So, anyway with the tank changes they look very content and I think they might be too young to catch one of my fish for a meal, I'll find out eventually. Bought them crab pellets but the fish steal them, I will look for dish just for crab food. Any advice is appreciated.
