I like freshwater tanks better than saltwater. IMO the tanks as a whole look prettier, FW fish can be just as stunning, and they are generally cheaper to get and maintain. Easier maintenance too.

So I was wondering, am I the only one? Which do you prefer and why?

I long a saltwater fish as there colour are a lot more striking than freshwater. I know they are are a pain but there beauty would defo be worth all the extra care needed

I have seen attractive marine rigs, but am, and always have been, a freshwater, PLANTED tank guy.

Am both, I've kept both planted, Non planted and marine tanks.

But, I do love a marine tank with it's live corals, Interesting CUC and creatures you find lurking your tank.

Honestly, It's far more interesting than FW I find but I still do love a good planted tank.

Planted tank>saltwater tank any day. Saltwater fish>freshwater fish period.

Wouldn't it be awesome if you could put saltwater fish into a planted tank? Have a yellow tang and clown fish and flame angels swimming around all that lush green foliage.

I'm getting to excited about something that can never happen!!!

I was thinking about that last post. If someone very new to fishkeeping is watching this, NEVER EVER EVER do that! Saltwater fish CANNOT live in freshwater! NEVER!

FRESHWATER any day. I keep discus and they are more beautiful than many of the marine fish I see in my opinion. Fish like anabantoids or killis are great too, and they are SOOOOOOO much easier to maintain than marines, even the discus

BTW, I was thinking about that previous comment about marines in planted aquaria. LOL. That would be pretty cool, you could have something like a Mandarin working its way through clumps of Java Fern. However, beginners, as said before, for the love of God, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
