because of covid i have been paying a big shipping fee to have frozen bloodworms delivered. i want to buy freeze dried bloodworms to see if my betta will eat them

Freeze dried food has less nutritional value than fresh or frozen. But if you want to try them you need to rehydrate them before feeding them to the fish. Dried food absorbs water and swells up once it is wet, and if it does this inside the fish, it can harm the fish. Bettas are greedy fish and will probably eat dried food before it's had chance to absorb any water so do it before you give it to him by soaking it in a bit of tank water for a few minutes first.
