Free Snails

How do you (assuming you need to) deal with the numerous small snails that you get when you buy plants from the lfs?

The easiest way to get rid of pest snails is to blanch some lettuce or cucumber, then stick it inside a cup. Stick the cup into your tank, wait an hour or so, and all the snails will crawl inside. Then, simply lift the cup out of the tank. Rinse, wash, and repeat until there are not snails.

Would they be attracted to a single piece of veggy in a tank like this?

i got a tiger loach! its done a fine job clearing my snails!!

do you have fish yet?
If not, you could use a chemical product to kill off the snails. I woulnd't recommend using this if you already have fish though.

I got some pest snails in my tank from plants but as I was still cycling and had no fish I used a snail-away type product (there's a few around) and killed them off. Very effective but have heard horror stories about using such products with fish and inverts.
