i was wondering if their are any chiclids that would be fine in a 10 gallon *possibly a pair :shifty: *

i have guppy fry but they are getting sold in 2 weeks

any ideas possibilities :) anything

thanks to all in advance :)

you could try shell dwellers, small african chiclids that live in empty snail shells.

you could probably get 3, 1 male and 2 females in a 10g you would need a sand substrate, high pH water and about 7 snail shells ( not the sort you might find in the garden) there are other things you'll have to think about if your getting them which i could try and help you out with as i have researched for days into these.

:good:

this is an african cichlid so its not really meant to be here  but it is a small shell dweller. There is no pic in this profile but a bit of googling and youll get some piccies :)
small shelldweller

im not going to lie

when i heard you say shell dwellers i was like

but now tat ive researched a bit, they seem pretty awesome :) thanks all

quick question, what about a pair of kribs?? :) i like them

Promoting africans in here, Traitor  , :p , LOL

Personally I'd go for blue rams, or an apisto pair or maybe filamentosa for a challenge -mine are oh so pwetty :D

well whatever chiclid it maybe, i would really like to get atleast a pair

how big will blue rams get?

blue rams get to no more than 3 inches but normally i think it's about 2.5 inches

:good:

I know I'm always saying that water parameters don't matter that much, but this is one case where I would actually let them govern my choice. Rams really do want soft water, and shellies really do want it hard. I'd test the water and let that decide. Either way, you'll get lovely fish.

imo a 10 gallon is a too small to keep new worlds in. espcially when you consider the fish that you could possibly keep. heres the reason why I say that I am lazy I wouldnt want to be doing twice weekly water changes just to keep the tank prams at a level that the fish can live with. even as grow out tanks I use 29s and 30s.

i'd keep 5-7 shells per shellie as they tend to be aggressive and get shells with an entrance diameter of about 1inch, wouldnt want your fish to get stuck now.
