I don't nominate if people ask. I try to truly only nominate if I feel they are exceptional tanks or fish or photos!

I will no longer tout for any OTM nominations,
too late for aug as have already asked & recieved, but after that no more!
I will stick to my original views.

I honestly don't care either way if people ask for noms or not. I don't let it persuade me to nominate just because they ask, but will if I feel it is worth the nomination. So, I say, ask all you want, it doesn't hurt anyone, but don't expect anything in return unless it's worth it.

i agree with you, Lady. i get quite annoyed when i see something like "FOTM?" or "POTM?" in the title. i hate beggars.

I think it's a little different in household pets though. We just got pet of the month and there were topics saying to post your pictures for pet of the month. So then we had topics like "My potm entries" and such. That didn't bother me at all. Asking for them in here isn't my favorite thing but I really get annoyed when it's every other post asking for it.

I don't see what the big deal is.

In one of my posts, I asked for any advice on how to improve the pictures so they could be nominated. The bottom line is, if one feels the picture is worthy, they will nominate it. Who cares if they beg, let them, its not like they are forcing you to do this.

I think it would be pointless and going a little overboard setting a rule saying if you ask to be nominated, your disqualified. I agree, it would mean more to me, if i was nominated and didn't have to ask for it. But I don't think people should take it so personal just cause someone asks, "Hey, is this picture FOTM or TOTM worthy"

Personally, i think it is worse to not nominate a good picture just cause the person who posted it asked for a nomination.

However, if this really bothers some of you, then maybe nominations should be made secret so that people don't know they have been nominated.

Maybe they should increase the nomination requirement from 2 to like 5 or more?

Instead of getting nominations, what if ppl sent their pics to some email address, and then the mods or whoever picked the 5 or so best, and then everyone else on the forum voted? Just an idea...

I personally don't see what harm it is doing to ask someone to nominate thier fish or pet for that matter.. If you like what you see then by all means you should nominate it if they ask for it or not. But that is just coming from me.

Just in my defense, I posted a picture of my pair of rainbow fish together. Usually my pictures are horrible and yet I managed to pull one out that got quite a few nominations even though I did mention it like this. "Maybe I have FOTM material, Tell me your thoughts, Thanks". Anyway I did get great comments as well about my pic quality etc etc. Just thought I would say something...
