FOTM, TOTM etc

I've noticed that there are quite a few posts where people are posting their images and asking to be nominated.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel that this is wrong? The point of this forum is to share your photos and if people feel you have a particularly special photo they nominate it - it is something to aim for, not expect.

I nominate pics that I consider to be worthy - not because someone is begging me to do it. In fact, I try to make a point of not nominating for people who asked for it.

I'm not trying to pick on anyone specifically here, but it seems that once a few people have done it, everyone jumps on the bandwagon. Perhaps people could automatically be disqualified for asking to be nominated?

I'd just like to hear your views - maybe the majority disagree with me, in which case that's fine and it won't bother me as much in future.

so I now shamlessly ask for nominations, not that I will win but whatever its the nominations that feel good

I agree with you as well, but I don't know if I'd go as far as asking for disqualification I wouldn't be opposed to such a rule, but wouldn't necessarily ask for it either.

I'd like to get noms based on my fish/tank pics, not based on whether people felt sorry for my for asking for a nom and not getting any response.

It was just an "extreme" idea. Sometimes you have to be harsh to get things done right.

Iagree with you LadyMinion that it is annoying and wrong but i like to feel that if a nomination for a photo needs to be asked for then it may get nominated but won't have a chance of winning.

Remember: It's the votes that count, not the nominations

(Unless you're danio2004, but he's easily pleased (jk))

I also think it's the noms that count... Just that somebody thought your fish was pretty enough and well cared for that they would want it to be in any of the OTM competitions in enough for me!!!!!!

i agree completely! i even feel kind of conceited posting my nominations in the nominations thread...
if your fish/tank is good enough, it will be nominated! you neednt ask! its quite rude! i also dont nominate people who ask for it.

Whew! Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way, lol.

Feel kinda sorry for danio2004 though. I know he's not the only one guilty of doing it, but no one else seems to be owning up.

Yup. Agreed. I don't even bother looking at the thread most of the time if the title says something like "FOTM please?"!!! Definately won't nominate. Having said that, I agree with Danio2004 in that it is quite a joy simply to be nominated. I've been in the FOTM comp 3 times now (including this month anyway) and not won, and won't win this months either. But I don't mind as it's just a pleasure to see other people voting for your fish!!!

I hate when people beg...it just seems a bit pathetic.

Surely the pleasure of being nominated is because it shows that other people enjoy your tank/fish? And if they've only nominated them cos you've begged....then what's the point?
