Ive had him around 3.5-4years....i got him at 14inches....hes been fine right up until 30 mins ago, he ate today and has been swimming around normally,he made a huge foot long poo just last night aswell...

well he was laying on his back gulping and would not upright himself,i managed to lift him out of the water without a struggle, then i held it out of the water and checked it over, nothing odd looking and then he swam off, again onto his back for about to minutes, managed to upright and is now laying on the floor,,,

checked all the tests and all show up normal, but still ive preformed a 20% waterchange, hopefully he will be ok, but iam stumped,i have been lucky to date....wilder

water temp is 26c and all other fish are eating normally and acting in there usual way.....My routine has not changed in four years either and added nothing new or done anything different, foods the same as usual

What colour was the poo.
Once fish lay on there backs they rarely make it.

Does he look bloated.
Any red streaking or sores on his body.
it could be bacterial.
The colour of the poo might help.

How is he now.

so strange, the poo was a whitish colour, well woke this am and he was swimming around, got home about 30mins ago, still swimming and has just eaten around 5 pellets...fingers crossed he will be ok,there is no marks of any kind on his body

Weird.
Do you think he could of been constipated.

Suppose thats a possibility, i thought maybe he was old and had something like a heart attack or whatever fish have, not being funny but last night one minute fine then next on its back, and i picked it out the tank without a murmor, then he gasped and kept it at suface for a few minutes, after this it seemed to help strangely enough...i shall be keeping a eye on him still...not sure of his age either

Ok.
Glad he's ok now.
If any more problems nelly get back to the board.
Good Luck.
