Food?

Swim bladder can also come from other issues... poor water conditions or diseases... but most commonly... from overfeeding. How much are you feeding Blaze per day? Please remember that their stomachs are the size of their eyeball... knowing that keeps me from overfeeding them. I feed the equivalent to 5 betta pellets a day (Betta Bio Gold by Hikari). Some of those pellets are substituted with frozen/thawed (not freezedried) bloodworms. Freeze-dried foods also are known to cause constipation in bettas (which can lead to swim bladder disorders.)

Also - his injury... does he have anything rough or sharp in his tank? If so, I'd remove it so it doesn't happen again. If he's missing scales for no apparent reason... it might be something else going on with him.

To avoid infection or a fungus growing on the wound... keep his water very clean. If you notice anything "cottony" - it could be an infection like flex or a fungus. You may need to treat either condition with an antibiotic (for the flex) or an anti-fungal for fungus. Also keep an eye on the wound for redness, puffiness or swelling.

I'm sorry about your betta... he's very lovely. I hope he gets better soon. Good luck!

he scraped his head on a sharp plant which i stupidly added yesterday, i have now removed it, feed him 3/4 pellets everyother day sometimes 2 on the day inbetween, will keep a very close eye on his wound. thanks for the kind words everyone :good:

Daphinia are a good food for helping with stomach probs.... As well as peas...
Remember what they'd get in the wild (not alot), i have a weekly fast day for all my fish, when they're lucky if they get half a pea, including my betta. I try and feed daphinia twice a week as well, no fishy food related problems (excluding overweight gourami; pleco+courgette+greedy gourami=fat fish) Dunno hope that helps.
Is your water acidic? Bare in mind that nutrient rich/poor waters (based on species) and incorrect PH (based on species) can lead to osmotic shock which is much the same as swimbladder.....
