well it seems its the food that is causing Blaze's swimbladder, so i need a new one, what do you reccommend i know of HIKARI BETTA BIO-GOLD but what others are there, will go to a few LFs tomorrow see if i can find any of them, get some bloodworm whilst i am there, if don't pick up any pellets will order some off ebay :good:

I use HIKARI BETTA BIO-GOLD I have HBH betta bites but I don't use them to feed the bettas since they sink more than float. I found my cories like the betta bites and so do my angels. I know that the pellets swell when they soak, something to keep in mind if you feed him pellets.

seems my lil guy can't keep out of trouble these days, just been up to check on him only to find he has somehow scaped way some of his scales  will this guy ever be normal again, first the swimbladder now this. heres a pic of his new war scare, do you think it will heal? it just looks like raw flesh, have added some antibacterial stuff to avoid infection :good:
sorry for the crappy pic but camera was just about to run out :X

He should heal from that, you added antibacterial so that should help. Just be sure to keep his water clean. That will help too.
I feed Hikari Betta Bio-Goldf pellets, Omega One Betta Buffet flakes, and HBH Betta ColorBright pellets.

glad he should heal, it seems he can't keep himself out of trouble this last few weeks, will go to the LFS tomorrow see what they have :good:

ah poor little sods been through the wars recently, hopefully hes used up all his bad luck now :)

How many pellets are you feeding him? Does swim bladder problem come from overfeeding (don't know, so I'm asking)?

If he spends a lot of his time like that then it possibly could be swim bladder. I have a fish that does that, he watches me watch him. I know mine is fine, just a personality disorder with him. The scales should grow back just fine I have a female that likes to do nose stands between the thermometer and the aquarium front. She does that several times an hour strange little girl. I didn't add anything to her water just kept it really clean and she healed fine.
Lynda some fish seem to have swim bladder problems when they over eat. If the pellets are soaked it makes them feel full. Most fish will keep eating until the can't find anymore food.

well poor lil guy has got worse still, just been up helping my sister clean her tank, popped in for a quick look at him and he is floating flat on his side again, not sure i'll ever get my Blaze back normal again :-(

Don't feed him for a few days.... or feed him some pea, and see if that helps..... maybe he's constipated?

have tried both starving him and giving him the pea, worked first time now its happened again, someone has adviced i try epson salt so going to see if LFS has some tomorrow if not then will order off ebay
