i have the fluval u1 and sometimes i notice the outlet flow has stopped but if i lift the sponge slightly it flows again, can i put something under the sponge to stop it covering the propeller so water can still circulate?

This might be a little risky putting something under there, as you may damage the propeller.

Do you have a guarantee as this should not be doing this, hope this helps. :)
Although, in the worst case scenario and you can find no alternatives try putting a smaller more firm sponge nearer the bottom to hold the original up making sure that it does not touch the propeller. :)

i was thinking something that isnt small enough to to go down the hole the propeller is in, and i have 3 of these all bought in different shops one is donkeys years old, and they all do it so im thinking a design flaw

could be a possibility then you might just want to try something and if it goes wrong then you've got nothing to loose have you try maybe a piece of polystyrene

Hi

I had a U1 in my 30l and had the same problem. I used 3 of the fluval Biomax ceramic thingys.
Carefully stood them upright in the bottom of the filter and droped the sponge back on top.

Worked a treat :good:

yes this is what i done in the end to prop it up, seams to have done the trick quite nicely :good:
