Evening All

My Riccia arrived today so I decided to have a go an attaching it to the pebbles her's a few pics I took of the process;

The essentials.

Riccia in a bowl.

I started by tying the thread round the pebble.

Then I spread the Riccia over it.

Then wrapped the thread round trying to cover as much of the Riccia as possible.

The back after I'd finished.

I used the same method to cover a small piece of mesh I had.

Then I soaked them in the bowl to remove any loose bits.

and here's a quick pic of them in the tank;

I think I'll move the twig behind them when they start to grow and fill out, I'll probably remove the moss from the other pebble and cover that at some point too. I love the colour of it in the tank it's got a kind of luminous glow to it.

Cheers

Good work dude, Riccia is a patience testing plant :)

Cheers mate. Tying it on certainly tests your patience, I didn't realise how messy it would be either there was little bits of Riccia everywhere.

Yeah I know the feeling I had a nano with Riccia on every rock, pebble, slate and bit of wood I could find and after days of tying and another week of it growing up past the lines and nettings I used it looked great. Then I got lazy and didn't trim it, woke up to find the underside had melted and the whole lot was floating lol. Was still finding Riccia weeks after on my clothes and on the floor too lol it just gets everywhere.

The need for regular trimming almost put me off, if I get fed up with it I'll just replace it with moss.

I like this tank and have been eyeing the spec for some time. You are just using the stock equipment on the spec, right? You're not making any modifications to it?

I'm mulling it over.

The scape looks good. The moss with the wood will be a highlight when it grows in.

Hi thanks for the comments, yeah I'm hoping the moss on the wood will look really good when it's covered well.

Everything is completely standard on the tank the only modification I plan soon is to cover the filter intake with something (maybe filter sponge on the inside) to stop shrimps getting caught/sucked in.

Cheers

Good idea mate, I find them in my external and internal when I clean them lol.

Oooooooo, tempted to get a spec now.
