Fluval G6

Hi just been looking at the G6 and would like to know if any one has one?
Is it alot better than a FX5?

I looked into this, and just done a general search around google. The reviews are a bit hit and miss.

I saw one of these being tested at an MA in Brigg and they are really good filters, clearing a tank and making the water gin clear in about 3 mins. However, if you're gonna spend £500 on a filter, then i'd expect it to be the best filter on the market. The only problem i see with it is the micro-chipping, the more chance of it going wrong.

You can't really compare it to a fx5 since they are 2 completely different beast. The fx5 will out flow, out filter, out bio, and is half the price of the G6. The fx5 is classified as a monster filter that can handle 200+ gallon tanks. The G6 is technically more advance and has all the bells and whistles available in today's market. It's easier to clean and more versatile when changing media. But it can only filter a 90 gallon tank since it's limited on the size of it's media compartments.

I only use either a fluval g3-g6 or fx5 on my tanks, including the 15 in my fishroom, which i now have running on 6 fx5's and then my fish tanks inside all run on g6's and my smallest tanks runs on a g3. Never look back, ehiem are crap to be honest, the internal heater is crap and the spec of the new fluval filters is amazing. Rolph Hagen spent a lot of money on these filters and it shows. In total i have 6 fx5's 4g6's and 1 g3.

I would definitely recommend.

Sometimes i do personally think people get carried away with filters... Ive had what would be considered to be pretty rubbish filters my whole fishkeeping life, never caused me any problems, my water is clear and clean, always showing good parameters. I would rather spend my money on other fishkeeping goods tbh..
