Fluval Fx5 And Polishing Pads

i see fluval make a special polishing pad for the fx5. does anyone use them and does it clog up all the time and require more maintanence?

I use polishing pads on the fluval 205/305's and have no problems but then the Fx5 is proberly a total different setup.
No dought one of the many members who uses the Fx5 will be more help.

just get some filter wool. That stuff is filthy cheap and does the same job

im not really bothered which i use its just i dont want to be having to open up the filter all the time as its a big filter and a pain to be in and out of.

yes i use fx5's and the polishing pads do mean more maintainance
they slow the flow down and it means you have to open them up more often

I have two fx5 and think they are great.

I have however tried various media in the baskets and found the polishing pads clog everything up pretty fast.

I even tried the course pads but ultimately found having bioballs in the middle basket and just using the outer pads work best for me.

This gives me a fast flow rate and maybe a filter clean twice/three times a year!
