I have a fluval C2 and I love it! Although sometimes if you do a big water change and the water level goes below the pipe thingy, it can be a right pain in the backside to get it to suck water back up... don't know if it is just mine though.
The U Series are internal filters. Totally different. I have a C3 and it is pretty good. I do prefer AC filters though because they are easy t clean and you can different media when you want. The C-Series is unique with their "wet/dry" bin but not much ability to deviate from their intended setup. I use bio-max in the pull-up bin in front of the sponge holder. No carbon.
They don't re-start after WC's as well as the Aqua Clears either. I usually leave that filter off until my water level is back to square and fill it with tank water. It usually takes twice as long as my AC's. And these will probably take the place of the AC's some day so I hope they get the setup right before they do.
