Is a 205 good for my 175L bow front? Looking to replace my internal cheers

Depending on what you are wanting to do with the tank, yes.

If you are planning on either having a high tech planted setup or larger messy fish, then you'll want something bigger, but for filtering a general community setup then it'll be fine

Well biggest will be dwarf gourami x2 and a few java ferns on bogwood

I would go with at least a 305. I used to have a 405 in my Rio 180 and that did a great job.
