Hope someone can help I've noticed some small black flies, fleas not sure wot they are around top of my tank .I have a breeding cage thing hanging on side of tank which my apple snails have hatched in , could it be anything to do with them ? I have no other pets so can't be fleas but are as small as them . Hopefully someone can help thanks .

It sounds like they could be either fruit or thunder flies. They are attracted to the aquarium by the lights and can lay their eggs under the hood which are hatching out. Take the hood outside and hose it down. If any do drop into the tank the fish should eat them. They will not hurt them.

Do you feed live food? Some of the larvae may have hatched. I wouldn't worry too much - if you can get them in the water, the fish will get them and have a tasty meal!

Thanks for advice I shall clean lid later , lovely tank pic like your background , is that real rock or artificial .?

No idea where they came fom, but my better half reckons they are/were "sandhoppers" in the 620T, bouncing around on the water surface.

Could be collembola or springtails they are common in planted aquariums.
They come in on plants and feed on waste and micro organisms.
I have them and they are reported to be harmless.
Some fish like guppy or Betta will snack on them.
