I have seen three flat brown worms in my tank - I have squished two of them and captured another! They are about 1cm long, brown, flat with an arrow shaped head. When they are touched they kind of contract into a more oval flat shape. They almost look like tiny leaches. Yesterday for the first time I fed the fish some live food - some bloodworms. I also added a new plant. Today I have done a lot of moving stuff around and saw these worms so I'm not sure whether they came with the bloodworm, the new plant of my fiddling just brought them out into the open today.
With the power of google I think they are planaria but they are most definitely brown rather than white, as most descriptions seems to mention.
So, I guess my questions are:
Are these planaria?
I have read they are harmless to fish but harmful to shrimp. I am planning on getting shrimp in the future so is it worth attempting to rid my tank of them?
How can I get rid of them? Is "No planaria" recommended? Any other ideas?
Thanks!
