My betta won't flair(or is it flare) but my betta won't, he won't do it with a mirror, i don't mind really, just thought it might be fun. I try to follow him with a hand held mirror but he just won't react, he follows it for a little then (ive trained him to go up to the top when i tap the side) he goes up to the top for food, like if ive tapped the side. Do you have any idea?

He seems to be a very calm betta, i love him anyway

But im thinking off getting a female, will it be OK in the same tank?

would you recommend first trying it then if needed separating the tank? or any other ideas?

It would probably be less painful/stressful for the male and female if you lay them down on a breadboard and hit them with a rolling pin.

I would recommend just not doing it in the first place.

But just out of interest what volume is the tank, and what are the dimensions?

Ive got about 15 live plants, Its about a 1.5m long ways and about 70cm the width, and about 1m top to bottom of tank, with out the stand.

Hmmm I've just seen your emergency section thread. Could that be why he seems so calm and harmless?

Ive got two, the other one in the big tank is like this, the other betta in the smaller tank has the problem but he has flared a little in the past.
