There's a big pile of flagstone/fieldstone in my backyard (I'm not sure which). Has anyone ever used it in an aquarium, and is it safe? I know some rocks can leach things into the water, which makes me a little nervous, but it would be great if I could use it rather than buying rocks at the pet store.

scrub it boil it and then soak it for a few days. do water tests during that time. if you see no problems. pop it in.

Ok, I found a few that I like and one of them is boiling. The others are too big. I'm baking them in the oven at 500 degrees, which should kill anything growing on them, if that's the reason for boiling them.
