Fitration Flow

I have a 200ltr tank with external Fluval but it does not supply enough water flow, my plant are suffering because of this can anyone recommend something that will give out more water flow/pressure, most of my plants are low and dense so it needs to feed the tank bottom.

Which Fluval do you have? I have a 405 on a 180l tank and that (for my liking) is perfect.

Have you cleaned the filter and the pipes recently? that usually helps increase the flow

I had a Fluval 305 on a tank that size, but my problem was that it was getting blocked often. I replaced it with an Eheim Professional 3e 450, with good results: I use one flow setting during daytime and another at night.

If your fluval filter is filtrating sufficent and you need more flow why not add a power head like a Korelia

You can reposition it easily for best effect.

Its the fluval 305, its still quite new so i dont think the pipes are blocked, the water is clear and the nitrogen cycle is fine i just wanted more water movement so the plants dont get too clogged in the hairy algae cause it ruins them and the plecs dont touch it because it grows on the plant edges.
Doesn't a powerhead need un undergravel uplift pipe? might look into a Eheim Professional 3e 450, thanx guys for your help.

What's your lighting like? One of the simplest ways to clear up algae can be just to reduce lighting.. and as above, for extra circulation, you may be better off just getting a powerhead as opposed to a new filter.

I need the algae growths to feed the pleco's the powerheads i'm thinking about need the needed the undergravel uplift tubes??

pretty much in all home aquaria situations, plecos should be fed prepared foods or vegetables on a regular basis. Unless you have a monster of a tank, there will almost definitely not be enough food in there for plecos. It is also much easier than trying to grow the right algaes for them.

No, most powerheads are stand alone, meaning that they are small units which take the water through the back and push it out through the front. No tubes or anything involved.

Thanks i feed them pleco wafers etc, they also like cucumber and peas, been on google think this is what i need, Hydor Koralia Evolution 2800. Circulation Pump, the plants looked healthier without the black hair algae.
