i have a 60L aquarium and want to have a M/F pair of blue rams. i love them!!!
i have a community tank but will be taking my fish back to my Lfs and redoing my tank!!
just a few questions:
does anyone live in dorset or near and has a male and female i could buy off them?
if not does anyone know a fish shop near me that sells them?
also does anyone know what plants they like and what decor they like?
any other fish they are compatible with?

if anybody has any awnsers to the questions i have asked please leave comments :good:

id go for vallis/ amazon swords at the back/ sides, make sure there are plenty of cobbles for them to lay thier eggs on, little bit of bogwood in there too

if youve only got a 60 litre i wouldnt put much else in there except for the clean up crew

60L's a bit small, but you might get away with it - as long as they pair up. Not big enough for a bullied one to hide away (as I found out the hard way.)

I kept mine in a lightly planted tank with bogwood and they seemed happy enough. As for compatibility...just about all community fish, the only thing I'd think twice about mixing them with is other dwarf cichlids. Not to say they can't be mixed with others, but I'd be careful if it is something you consider and post up in the New Worlds Cichlids forum.

i would have the two rams (get a proven pair), then have either ottos or a bristlenose, 3 cories of some sorts, then perhaps something for the top, maybe danios or swordtails?

Not danio's, they need more swimming space than most 60L's can provide.

a pair of rams be them a pair or not, will be too active and aggressive for a 60 litre IMHO

I've kept a pair in a 65L for about 5 months - unfortunately I got two males, but they were quite happy together provided I kept the water quality top notch - 30% changes every 4 days or so. If I left it longer the dominant one would get arsey, and a 65L doesn't have enough space to provide many hiding places.

If you're going to keep on top of the water changes (in the end I couldn't) then its worth a go - if not, get a bigger tank or avoid GBR's.

thanks ive decided to get:
1 female GBR
10 cardinals
6 corys

then hopefully i can get a biger tank in the near future and then i will get a male to go with the female.
does my stocking sound good?

also thinking off:
1M and 1F apistosgramma
6 corys
6 cardinals

which sounds better??
