Fish That Are Not Worth Buying.

Large predatory fish -- Arrowanas, Oscars, Red Tailed Catfish, piranhas. I think they need too big tanks and that they aren't worth the money. I don't really mind if a fish doesn't have much personality. That's just not what I got for. I want visually appealing fish that don't grow enormous.

I think you and I are exact opposites of one another. :D

guppies love dying as much as humping...

so no guppies...

 Maybe. I like freshwater sharks... especially balas. They grow semi-big.

I have never had much luck with guppies but have had loads of success with endlers.

I can't stand either of them... the way they swim... --shivers--

Pangius, Red Tailed, and Tiger Shovelnosed catfish. Too big for 999 or 1000 fish keepers to handle. Ditto Red Bellied Pacu, and godd*mn Pestco carries them all the time for like $2 each. (And, I am told, they are given to charging the tank wall and breaking it. Silly fish.)

Balloon Mollies and Parrot Cichlids. Quasi-Pisco. Not a big fan of deformed fish.

Discus. Too finicky, too pricey.

Heck, I have a tank of neons and 4 tanks of guppies at the moment. Neons are thriving. I got the guppies for my 6 year old, and kept the spawn around for feeding my turtle and keeping my QT tank cycled.

Pacu are the main ones, walmart selling one in my cold climate that was over 6 inches for 15 bucks with a sign that said for outdoor/pond use... ffs!

I think the "Chinese Algae eater" has to be the most useless aquarium fish all around. Doesn't eat algae past its youth and attacks all other fish. Not a single tank I could think of where it has a proper place.

Tetras are pretty boring, especially glowlight tetras. Really hardy, but don't seem to do much of anything. I don't think I'm going to buy them again unless it's a nano species like the ember tetra...oh, or a cave tetra tank. Those guys are cool, albeit semi-aggressive.

Anyway, the most boring things in my current tank are the Kuhli and the Dwarf Crays. Mainly because I never, ever get to see them, though they're apparently going strong. It's unfortunate as both are pretty awesome animals.

I disagree that Guppies or Danios are boring fish. Neither one is boring, they're just so hopelessly pedestrian that after awhile in the hobby it irks us we still have the darned things in our tanks.

Awww, so many don't like guppies or danios, but I love mine! lol

I don't really like plecos.. of any sort. Even if I had a big enough tank to have one, I don't think I would. After I saw what a fullgrown one looks like, they're just creepy looking :p lol

Me too. I got six pearl danios just yesterday as the first fish to go in my newly cycled 160 litre tank and, although the little fellas look a little lost in there at the moment, I've really enjoyed watching them. I've never had danios before so it's nice to try something new.

I have to agree about the CAE metioned earlier in this thread - certainly one fish I would never bother with again having had four in the past, one of which was killed by another one and the other three went back to the shop.

Neons - Toooo Weak
Hockey Stick Pencil Fish - Too Weak but always get some, hoping they will be strong.
Serpae Tetras - Little Devils
Red Eye Tetras - Fast and Horrible Nippers
White Spot / Blue Tetras - Fast and Horrible Nippers
Rams - Never had success with them

I have seen so much against CGAEaters, but honestly have never had problems with them, Guess i have been lucky and always buy them in groups of 3 or more.

I find alot of the cyprinids and live bearers very boring... And spiny eel's are just so frustrating... They are right infront of a pile of blood worms and ignore them...ARGH!

Pangasius, tsn's and rtc's are my main problem sales.

but parrot cichlids, what the heck is the appeal there? the most FUGLY fish ever, colour wise and overall shape etc, the poor buggers cant even close thier mouths it seems to me! Shouldn't be allowed to breed them imo, not a fan of man made ancistrus either (ie long fin, piebald).

oh and most coldwater fish are ugly as well imo
